Fire Station
The current fire station is located in the center of Videm, in close proximity to a traffic-calmed zone through which our exit route passes.

Why do we need a new fire station?
In the immediate vicinity of the fire station are public buildings such as the Videm Primary School, Health Center, Pharmacy, and Post Office. Nearby are also the Žerak Shopping Center, Ptuj Agricultural Cooperative, the Three Lindens Inn, the Church, and the Videm Sports Hall. The fire station is bounded by the Health Center and Post Office and a road that, due to its proximity to the primary school, is a traffic-calmed zone, while also being our only exit route, which is certainly not suitable for deploying intervention vehicles.
Very little outdoor space remains for the fire department's operations, approximately 8x10 meters in total, which is significantly insufficient for operating a firefighting unit. The area is also frequently obstructed by citizens for other nearby activities. The surroundings of the fire station are particularly burdened during morning hours when classes are held at the Videm Primary School, while other activities also operate simultaneously.
The existing fire station does not meet the needs of the fire department in terms of its structural characteristics. The main reason is that the current garages for fire vehicles do not meet current standards for fire vehicles in terms of their original size. The garage height already limits the installation of ladders on the GVC 16/25 vehicle, which in practice means that operational firefighters must install fire ladders on the vehicle outside the garage. A major problem is also garage number 3, which was built from a former bakery and has been limiting our acquisition of a new fire vehicle for years. The current space shortage is also evident in the fact that the society lacks a proper warehouse for firefighting equipment and maintenance of insulating breathing apparatus.
The current fire station is not suitable for the activities we perform as a society. There is a shortage of parking spaces for our members, especially during interventions. Parking problems also seriously affect the departure time for interventions, as our operatives leave their vehicles up to 300 meters or more from the equipment storage when arriving for an intervention. Since the exit route is right next to the road in the center of Videm, in just the last few years we have encountered vehicles parked by locals in front of our society's garages. Such situations hamper our work at critical moments when a fast response is of essential importance.
